The digital camera market is currently flooded with hot electronics. In fact it's hard to know what to choose really. Since most cameras are much of a muchness these days. It's really only the hardcore geeks that get a buzz from the fine details of modern digital camera equipment. However, having said that, it's pretty easy to see why the Nikon Cool Pix P7800 has made such a big wave.

One of the things that people look for in a digital camera is ease of use. The other is something small. It's all very well, and good having a huge DSLR that can do XYZ, but try to get it from A-B. This Nikon camera keeps within Nikon tradition. It is extremely practical yet has all the features you would expect from it's bigger brothers. With the added bonus of being jacket pocket sized.

I took this Nikon camera out on a little field trip to central London and found it a delight to use. The rotating LCD screen is cool. It allows you to get shots at difficult angles but more importantly, it allows you to stow it away. So protecting it somewhat. I love the feel and weight of the camera. It's just about right for a camera of this price.

The menu system is old school Nikon, so old school Nikon users will jump in right away. No faffing about trying to found out what is going on. The other good thing I found, is that if you prefer the viewfinder to the LCD then the menu options you choose show up there too. Neat little trick saves taking your eye off the prize when you change something.

Some of the main features are:
A 7.1 glass zoom lens with a super fast f2 stop aperture
Wi-Fi connectivity for quick photo transfer
Full 1080p HD film shooting for film makers
High end C2 image processor
Full manual control
RAW image recording mode
12.2 Mega Pixel CMOS sensor

Those are just some of the many features this great little camera has. I found it to be a delight to use. It has the power of the big digital Nikon’s, but the small size makes it a piece of cake to handle. If you are on the market for some hot electronics then this is one to consider. It has brilliant auto sensing technology for those times when you only have a second to point and shoot. But it also has the capability of going fully manual. So you get that beautiful DSLR control you crave for the studio shoots.

All in all, the Nikon Cool Pix P7800 12.2 MP Digital Camera with 7.1 Optical Zoom is well worth looking at for the money. It's a beautiful bit of kit.
